Holden's Discharge Inks are water-based screen printable fabric inks. As the name suggests, water-based inks are those which can be dissolved in water. Such inks use water as the main component to carry the color pigment.

Dischargeable inks utilize a chemical reaction with fabric dyes to discharge (remove) the fabric dyes, and replace it with water-based fabric pigment. Allowing you to print vibrant colors on dark fabrics.

The process requires heat setting, and the ink is a two part system consisting of the printable base, and the activator. The ratio of ink and activator is a ratio of 10%. So 9 parts ink an 1 part activator will achieve the desired intent.

Heat setting of your fabric should occur at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-5 minutes. Once the components are combined, you have approximately 8 hours of use.

From the product label:

The Holden’s Discharge System is designed as a 2-part system requiring 100% of the Discharge Base and 10% of the Discharge Activator. To achieve maximum discharge effect, the printed garment should be cured at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-5 minutes. The print should be cured very soon after being printed. The shelf life of the Holden’s Discharge System once activated, is approximately 8 hours.
